I have a JL 500/5 that is giving me issues. Randomly, the right speaker will start distorting, at any volume. To troubleshoot, I switched the right and left RCA's from the head unit, and it would still distort in the right speaker - so that eliminated the head unit causing any issues. I then swapped the the right and left speaker outputs from the amp, and then the left speaker started distorting but the right one was fine - proving that I don't have a bad speaker.

Also, when this started happening, I was running the stock speaker wire, but I have since pulled new speaker wire, and I still have the same problem.

Any ideas? Is my amp bad?

Most likely an internal problem with the amp, if you are outside warranty you can contact jl directly through there website they will still fix it for you and there cost is t bad I've sent some customer items to them for repairs outside of warranty before they are great to deal with and you know it's being fixed right because they built it.
