I have the AFE cold air intake on my truck for 5000 miles now and no problems. Of course I had a K&N for 10K with no problems except lots of noise either. The main thing is if you buy an aftermarket filter you need to think about a couple things. 1) Does your filter have a housing still or nah? If it has a housing like the AFE does or the stock intake then you probably don't have to think much more because it will work as well as stock at filtering air still. 2) if you don't have a housing, how are you going to protect the filter? K&N offers a pre-filter wrap as many other companies do to protect their filters from dirt getting in and stuff by blocking anything larger than a certain size mesh opening. This would be a great idea. 3) Do you have a dry or a oiled filter? If you have a dry filter, again it won't take much thought here because theres nothing to do, just vacuum it off every 25K and wash it every 50K and replace every 100K and you're good. If you have an oiled filter, make sure to oil the filter OFF THE TRUCK, and don't use a lot of oil. Let it sit for at least 20 mins after its sprayed to let the oil either drip out or settle into the filter. Then reinstall and you won't have MAF sensor issues. MAF sensors get fouled when either A) they get covered in oil or B) they get covered in dirt or C) both.

Oh wait, you have a 4cyl, I wouldn't nickel and dime for power, I'd turbo charge that bugger and call it a day, just saying!

...I would just be careful what you add....most companies will look for any reason not to cover a warranty...so much as a bolt that's not supposed to be there and they will use it as an excuse ( not Toyota but I mean in general...I can't speak on what Toyota would do)

I put a K&N on my 2006 Taco.... It messed up the MAF sensor like @smitty99 said....!! I had to remove the sensor and clean it....it was THEN that I got more power..(AFTER I took it out)..damn, I could not believe how much the K&N degraded my power till I cleaned the MAF and threw the K&N filter in the garbage.!!
