Hey so had an 18, traded up for the 20 and took my hideaway with me. Just installed it along with the kicker key 200.4. But now the hideaway for lack of a better way to say it is making a clapping sound when under heavy use. The light on it also sort of flashes. i would say it looks more like its not getting enough power.

Anyone see this before? is the Sub just dead? or did i screw up the install somehow?

Did you wire the hideaway’s input wire before or after the key?

Sounds like it got wired after the key, and the new input voltage is more than it’s rated for, so the protect light is coming on

I don’t think it’s a dead unit; that’s just Kicker providing their awesome service and offering a replacement. I had the same exact issues (both the sound and the light flickering). I’ll be honest, I never figured out what it was, but I tried 3 different units and they all did that in my 2020. I gave up and just left it. You can’t hear it when the door speakers are playing (at least I couldn’t).

I wonder if it’s something with the 2020’s since it sounds like you didn’t have that issue in your 18.

Edit: ended up trading that in on a 2021 and removed the sub and sold it. So I don’t have any update or long term use input.
