KM2 and tire rotation

I have had KM2's for the past 10k miles or so, and I have had them rotated two times now. Every time I get them rotated, I feel a strong pull to the right.

The first time I rotated them and felt the pull, I immediately thought it was my alignment. The alignment was a little off, even after correcting it was still pulling to the right. I took it for a second alignment at a different shop and it returned good numbers. When I was getting my sliders installed at SD Truck Shop (great place by the way, but too far for me to go there regularly), the guy looked at it, and told me that it was the tires. Once, I rotated just the front two tires, the pull went way.

I just got back from my second rotation, and this time I asked to do a cross rotation, where they take the rear right and rotate it with the front left, and vice versa. However, the pull is now back.

Just wanted to know from fellow KM2 owners or mud tire owners, if this is normal. I use my truck primarily as a daily driver. The only reason I got the KM2's was because of the killer deal I got on them, but if this is going to continue being a problem I think I will just switch them out for some A/T.

 

Anyone with mud tires? What has been your experience after getting them rotated?

 

I've never had a problem rotating them, but if it pulls right after more than 1 rotation it doesnt sound like the tires

 

I think it's because of the cross rotation. I like it's just supposed to be front to back and back to front on the same side. Something to do with radial tires? I vaguely remember seeing a thread about it somewhere on here. I could be completely wrong though.

 

the treads on these arent directional though, right?

never had that issue and I got 295/70/17 Toyo Open Country MT's , have about 7,000 miles on them and got them rotated once so far

 

I haven't had issues with my KM2's. I rotate them pretty frequently though since I'm out in the desert almost every weekend that I'm home. Haven't done a cross rotation though, just moving clockwise with them and working in my full size spare.

 

I've rotated mine a few times... never had a pull. Sounds like your alignment is just a little off and fresh tread is making it more obvious.

 

I've had ordinary road tires develop a strong pull.

You'll either have to live with it, find a rotation pattern that doesn't pull and leave it there, or try and get the tires warranty replaced.

I went back to the tire shop, and had them rotate just the front two tires. Now it does not pull to the right anymore. I think I will try Special_K's method, and just rotate them clockwise at my next rotation.

Now I have to find out what is causing a clicking sound when I am driving. It started after getting the rotation fixed, and it seems to be coming from the front right tire. I thought there might be something sticky on it so that when it rotates it makes the sound, but there is nothing I can see.

Honestly, there has been nothing but one problem after another after getting my lift installed. I am seriously considering going back to stock.

 

From the looks of it, the weights the tire shop stuck on the wheel when balancing the tire are rubbing against the brake caliper. Looks like I will have to go back there again on Monday.
