    Hello,
I'm planning on replacing the clutch on my Tacoma this month, and I wanted to install an LCE short shifter while I had the transmission off. However, on the website it is stated to verify if the truck has a 6 bolt pattern that measures 3 1/8'' in width and 5 1/2'' in length. I'm not sure if my truck has these exact measurements and I called LCE engineering and the representative stated that it's better if I check because they didn't make a short shifter for every possible transmission that Toyota put on their Tacomas; they made a short shifter for the most common one. Now, I'm wondering, has anyone here bought and installed a short shifter on their 99 Toyota Tacoma 2.4L 2wd 5spd from LCE Engineering (part # 1097003) without issue? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

    Why do you want that?

I would like to try it out. Also, a shorter throw between shifts would be nice.

Yes. Still stock at the moment. But, I'm fixing and restoring stuff here and there. I have plans for it, but I'm working on it bit by bit.

Love my short shifter!! ... I got a marlin crawler one so I can't help with the LCE . But I like the marlin and Hurst (theres a different company making I cant rember the name) style that replaces the housing. Oppose to the spacer. Either way good luck and enjoy.

I have an LCE short shifter installed on my 02 V6 4wd extra cab and love it! Really cleaned up the slop and it goes into gear much easier compared to stock.

Sorry, I can't verify that the one you're looking at will fit, but do recommend the LCE kit! Also, get the plastic bushing. My factory one was destroyed.

Thank you I'll look up the Marlin Crawler one and see if they're more specific on sizing!

I really just want to go for it and just bite the bullet and hope for the best and hope it fits cause I've heard great things about the kit. Thank you for your response!
