Leveling kit

So i recently went up to 265/70r17 nitto ridge grapplers and was planning to get a leveling kit. I noticed a little bit of rubbing when I have the wheel fully cranked while driving over larger objects or going through a decent dip. I want to still be able to do a bit of offroading nothing to crazy. Would the rough country leveling kit be an alright choice? 2in front and 1 inch in the back? Ive also heard rumors of people noticing vibrations. If anyones got some helpful information that can guide me in the right direction that would be great! I would get a suspension kit but not enough money for that haha

 

Its not your lift with those tires, its your rims offset since youre rubbing on your UCA probably if running OEM wheels

 

Ive got fuel vector rims 17 x 8.5 +7 offset. Would the leveling kit fix the rubbing issue?

 

leveling kit will make it worse if you're rubbing UCAs.

 

Any suggestions on what I can do?

 

proper lift with aftermarket UCAs and/or different offset wheels

 

Where is the rubbing?

 

Honestly not 100% sure but once I find out ill post about it. Im hoping its not the uca's, cant notice any wearing on it. Hope its just a mud guard or something. @speedracer4 thanks for the info, ill eventually get fox

Good luck, it rubbing on anything other than UCAs is going to be cheaper to remedy.

Remember this, positive offset pushes the tire in towards the UCA, negative pushes out which normally causes rubbing on the cab mount. You’re more than likely rubbing on the UCA or inner fender well.

 

Get a zero offset or something in the positive range if you're looking to avoid rub.

 

I think you guys are looking in the wrong direction at the UCAs. His wheels are +7mm. Factory sport wheels are +30. So he’s already 23mm farther away than stockers and plenty of people are running the same size on stock wheels.

With the additional offset your tire is swinging a wider arc. You have a Sport so I’m assuming you have a front air dam and probably mud flaps. I would start there. Just go full lock in whatever direction you noticed the rub. Get out and look to see what the shoulders of your tire are closest too and see if the dirt/dust is rubbed off. If it is you found your culprit.

 

So Im happy to say that its just rubbing on the mud flap thanks again for all the help guys!

 

Heat gun is your friend, my new wheels are +5mm. So stick out 2mm further and am running the same size as you. I think I’ll be able heat the ridge in the flap a little and just push it in. That’s the plan anyway.

No serious off-roading here just woods roads and gravel getting to hike/bike trails mostly. And pounding snow to get out of my road in the winter.

 

How much trimming did you have to do on the mud flap? Or did you even fool with it since it’s just the flap?

 

I haven't bothered with it yet since it rarely ever happens but ill eventually either take it off or just use a heat gun to push it back a bit.

 

Is it on the actual mud flaps or the inner fender liner?

 

Just the mud flaps from what I can tell.
