32s will fit and a 3" spacer will lift your truck. Good luck with that.

Same here, only rub slightly on the mudflap at full lock. Would rather keep the mudflap on rather than get road debris flung at the side of my truck.

Gonna have to do some cutting for 33s. It’s the width, not the height, that’s the issue.

If you do an actual suspension lift and go above 2.5”-2.75” then it’s most likely that you’ll also need new upper control arms to get a correct alignment. At a minimum I’d suggest a bilstein 5100 with the appropriate coil for your needs. Even better to go with 6112 or any of the adjustable coil overs but probably outside of your budget. If you want to avoid cutting and hammering go with a 32” vs 33”. The 33’s will most likely have rubbing issues but every truck is a little different and wheel offset is also a factor. Another thing I’d like to point out, no matter what lift you have when your truck is just sitting there (static) it’s the same as a stock truck when the suspension/tires start moving up and down. Basically, If the tire doesn’t fit stock then it will not fit lifted.

Ok. Figured it would be the width. I really was hoping to get 33's with my budget but was hoping it would just scrub a little or need minor trimming not cutting. I know spacers are just spacers but any recommendations?

Just for clarification. The Bilstein 5100 shocks would lift my tacoma but would need cutting and more modifications though right?

The more you lift a Tacoma, the more problems you create, do your research.

Whoa, geez. Do not get a block lift and do not get spacers.

I'm not sure I caught it, but why do you need upgrades? What's your usage? When most people say "hunting" or "forest roads", that just means gravel, in which case your stock Tacoma is more than ready. Tires are always a great investment/upgrade, so knock yourself out there. As Thunder Fist said, all 32's will fit your stock suspension, and there are a plethora of 32" AT options out there.

If you truly do want 33's, then I'd go for 255/85R16's. I've run that size in the Cooper ST/Maxx's and they're amazing. But you will need to trim a bit of plastic to get them to fit. Again, as Thunder Fist said, it's width that causes fitment issues. 285's will be more work.

From what I've heard you don't need a lift. Lift doesn't give you more tire clearance - not when the suspenion cycles. But if you want a good suspension improvement on the cheap, then go with OME shocks with the appropriate coils. I would keep it low though. Once you start approaching 2+" of lift you potentially run into other issues. Namely upper control arms and alignment, or maybe even the dreaded needle bearing vibration. It's a bit of a rabbit hole - assuming you want it done right.

Another note about suspension - the stock rear leaf springs are embarassingly bad. On your budget you might be tempted to get an AAL spring - which, yes, will give you a bit of lift, but do nothing for your load capacity. If you plan on actually using the bed of the truck, the real solution is to just replace the leaf pack. Most people go with Dakars.

Welcome to TW. Sorry about your wallet.

Proper alignment is everything. I'm currently running the KO2 34x10.5/17's without a CMC.

Running 34s with no cutting. Nice. Do you mind posting a pic? I think that's the first I've heard of that.

Lots of pics in my profile.

First off, these KO2's are a pretty weak 34". 33.5" at best. Second, I still had to cut chunks off the corners of my fender and take a heat gun to the fender liner. I had to move a fair amount of plastic to get them to fit. When they got stuffed they'd grind against the fender liner pretty good, but a few months back I got front Timbrens and I have yet to hear anything from them.

I'm currently at about 2.8 degrees of caster.

I'm running 33s and I'm getting some rubbing on the fender liners (I think) when I hit a dip with speed. I think I'm gonna have a trip some more plastic. Do you have pics showing how much you cut?

    No, no pictures like that.

Do you have 285's though? I feel like width causes more fitment issues than height. And wheels of course.

Yeah, I do. I’ve got 0 offset wheels, I did the cmc and pinch weld. No rubbing except when I hit a dip quickly. I’m sure it’s just more plastic to trim or maybe a heat gun fix.

hey thanks poweredbysoy and fellow TW's. Any more replies with specifics will be appreciated. I definitely go through hairy areas when hunting so I want to be able to go where I want.
