I came across this lift today and I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this? I am looking for a modest lift so I can put on some 265 70 17 AT tires. I would like to keep the rake too.

    http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/NEW-3-Lift-With-front-coils-rear-options_p_233.html

I really like the result in the post below expect for the price. Plus I am a mall crawler. Very little off road but I will probably buy a boat somewhere in the future.

    Thanks for the help.

Plenty of folks run the toytec coils. I would pair them with Bilstein 5100 shocks and ditch the stock ones. The aal is a decent option and better than blocks in the rear. I would also maybe look at the 5100 rear shocks too but that's up to you. Whats your budget? This was essentially my first basic lift.

If you plan on going bigger eventually. Just go ahead and do it right and save money in the long run. Get some coilovers and a full 3" leaf pack for the rear with new Fox shocks :)

5100 shocks on stock coils and a progressive AAL pack in the rear

    You will thank me later.

You are basically looking at 2" in the front, and 1.5" in the rear to match the look in that thread. You can achieve that multiple ways, like others have mentioned two of the most cost effective and popular options for doing it right are 5100s with Toytec coils and a 3 leaf progressive AAL, or OME with a 3 leaf progressive AAL. You don't need the top plate spacers or diff drop. The single AAL is going to ride stiffer.

Thanks for your responses. Suspensions are like rocket science to me so I need some education. Sorry if these are questions are kindergartenish.

@aubi1414 Why ditch the stock shocks? If Toyota thinks they are good enough to run why would I change them? I don't per say have a budget but I don't want to over purchase for something that will be kept on the street. But I also don't want have to continually purchase replacement shocks.

@geekhouse23 Does this preload the spring and cause it to loose travel? Why the progressive aal and not a standard all?

@Rock Lobster I have read where they will fit but I don't like them smushed into the wheel well. I like the stock gap and want to keep it roughly the same including the rake.

Standard AAL is garbage and I hate them. Lasted 3k on my brand new leafs

That is the reason for the progressive aal a softer ride?

I agree but I don't like shrinking the gap between the front and the back of the wheel well.

That's good information! Although I am sure my truck will not see the use your truck does.

Correct, but it will still be firmer than stock. Single leafs will ride like your truck has no suspension when you go over a speed bump.

Will the 2" and 1.5" keep the rake on the truck?

Lifting the front 2" and the rear 1.5" means you loose 0.5" of rake, which isn't much. You can leave the overloads in with the progressive AAL install and get 2" in the rear too, but the ride will be stiffer.

Look at the Baja link in my signature to see what 2" up front and 1.5" rear looks like. There is still a good amount of rake.

If you guys had to choose....

    Stock Shocks on Toytec coils
    Or
    5100s on stocks coils.

    Pros and cons?

5100s stock coils, then upgrade coils when you can.

Will I need new shocks with the progressive aal?

Ideally yes. You could run it on the street with reduced travel without if you were trying to do it in stages. But you should get shocks suitable for a small lift.

    5100s cover the back also?

Yep. Personally I like to match my shocks front and rear as I am too OCD to do otherwise.

I've got an OME lift front (using 887 springs) and OME Dakars on back. Running 265/70/16 tires. Lots of gap above the tires. Granted the 17's will be a little larger.

Haven't gotten a chance to do anything off-road yet but it runs great on the highway!
