Holy crap, how do the brakes feel on this rig? The towing vehicle doesn't look overly burly.

Really? It's a 1 ton diesel. No problems going 75 mph in the mountains. I was at 14000 lbs on that load. When I purchase my trailers, I spec them with the biggest brakes available. Having a grade braking transmission (allison 1000) and an exhaust brake, no problems holding speed or braking down long grades.

This trailer has 8K axles but, but not exactly what I wanted. Really difficult getting around mall parking lots, and Texas Pride trailers are, in my opinion ok at best..

I would have grabbed more boulders, but the trailer was starting to grunt a bit. Went down I-70 without an issue, and didn't have to use the brakes more than 3 times.

The reason for this purchase. Better 8K axles and a by far more stronger trailer...and 4' less for mall crawling.

So, I saw something that might be a good solution for you when looking at bed mats. There's a company on amazon making full length bed rugs. I have also seen ones that go all the way up the sides of the bed as well. Hope that helps.
