How does this work? Is it lock by air? Not a e locker so

 

It's an auto locker. Not a selectable one like an e-locker or air locker. It locks when torque is applied.

I had this same locker installed in the rear of my 99 Prerunner many years ago. It worked great offroad. Had to be a little careful on the street though, especially in rain or slick conditions.

 

So it locks basically when your on the gas?

So is it dangerous to use for 2wd on streets? I read the article

 

You just have to be mindful of it. I never had any issue driving with it installed for about a year before I sold the truck, but I live in the southwest where it's mostly dry all the time. Someone living where it snows or rains a lot more may want to think twice about it, I dunno. It really depends on your driving habits.

If you like to gas it around corners then it's probably not something you should install lol.
