I just shut it off then remote start it if I absolutely need to leave it running. I only do that when it’s -30 or below.

That brings up another good point about pet dogs being stolen and used as bait dogs for fighters.

I mostly only leave him in the truck while he is in my sight. I also have a short stick that fits in my non power sliding rear window track so the window can only be opened halfway. The things we have to do to thwart pond scum.

I leave my human passenger in the truck and take the dog into the store with me. I get a lot fewer confrontations that way.

It doesn’t get above 100F very often where I live, so I would not leave the dog in the truck on those days. Less hot days, I would seek shade and leave all the windows down. I figure the dog is not too stupid to stay inside if it got too hot, but I guess it depends on the dog.

I think this is the only way without rolling the window down and then locking then rolling up...pretty easy method too. When I bought mine used one fob had the key cut but the other fob the key was blank...if that's the case (or your missing the key for some reason) go to the dealer and they can remedy that.

and that's irresponsible...don't take your dog in your vehicle if you're going somewhere you can't bring the dog into or out to...as a dog lover to me that's just simple, responsible, and "i actually care about my dogs well being not just my selfish desires" kind of thing. Either way, I think you got your answer, use the key in the key fob to manually lock the door and do what you will...hell at least you're not one of those asshole that puts them in the bed and thinks leashed or unleashed they're fine...neither is true...so there's that at least.

NO NO NO! If the temp outside is only 50 and you have the windows rolled HALFWAY down, not cracked, it will STILL get TOO HOT in a matter of minutes!!! This has been proven and I've tested it myself! NEVER DO THIS!!! IF you are going to be so irresponsible and selfish to force your dog to ride along with you and then leave them in the vehicle while you go trolloping about then you BETTER leave it running with the ac on...and hope you don't have an exhaust leak!

Oh jeeze. I have sat in the car longer many times. Rush hour traffic jam with no air conditioning. Good times. Lol

Repeat, not 110F. Maybe 90 with 70% humidity.

Granted humans are better at dealing with heat. We need to take care of our furry best friends.

I would never leave a dog (or human) in the car on a hot sunny day with the windows up.

People might forget that cars (and homes) haven’t always come standard with air conditioning.

I get you, I wasn't accosting you-i just hadn't thought of the dog napping issue for a while. The things I would do if I caught someone trying to steal my dog.

    That's a great idea!

But, you do have to have remote start capability (which I do) for this to work.

    Oh look, another mod....
I do, and I believe most do? (someone verify that for me)

I have a keyfob, so I can press the lock button 3 times to get it started.

    Yeah,

Mine works since I have an Automatic Transmission with push-start on my 2021.

It came with "Remote Connect" service which expired 1 year after purchase (which I did not renew)

Not sure if it works with manual transmissions because that means it would have to be kept in neutral (as opposed to being in gear) for it to work.

I can't speak to Manual Transmission since I don't own one.

MDFM31, thank you for your insight. It has made me even more vigilant when leaving my dog in the truck. Today (40 degrees outside) I completely locked him in the truck while I was in a store for 5 minutes. On hot days I plan on leaving him home (my house has AC) if I can not leave the windows open and have him in sight.
