    Hey guys,

Been looking for a truck for a while now and have decided on the Tacoma. The main reason behind it was for the add-on supercharger, which i plan to do. Right now i am just not sure what package would benefit me the most. I plan to go with a DC still not sure if LB or SB, more then likely LB. I just need it for truck purposes (hauling stuff) and occasional people mover. I have my car which i DD so i will not be needing the truck for that. I also do not plan to off-road it, i have an older Jeep for that but with that said it may see some use during snow. My main questions would with the supercharger and traction. Would i be better off getting the OR package and doing the E-lock mod to be able to use it in 2HI or is the Auto-LSD have good enough control to keep from lighting up the tires too much or to swap in an mechanical LSD? Just mainly looking for those times i want to get on it i will not just sit there and smoke one tire, which can be fun sometimes :).

    Thanks for any feedback.
    Mike

    Wait....I'm confused...

The only reason you want a locker is so you can make 'double' burn-out marks on the pavement??:confused:

Sorry about that. Thinking the locker would help to get both tires moving so one is not just spinning away. Dont know if all the built in traction control would do this good enough or if having a locker/mechanical lsd would help out more. If they both spin so be it, just trying to not punch it and have one tire just smoking away. Might just be way over thinking this but thats usually how i work.

The locker will do exactly that - both tires will be locked up.

But...on this forum, most of the folks use the locker for offroad usage, boat ramps, and getting stuck or for traction. Not for pleasure usage in burning up the pavement. I'm just not sure having the locker for your intended purpose ONLY is worth having it and/or its a waste to have it and not use it for all its other advantages. In other words (in my oppinion), don't buy a truck because it has a locker. Buy the truck because it has everything else you need.

Look at it this way.... the novelty of having two burn-out marks will last how long?? And....it'll make a difference how? In 3 years or so, are you still gonna be glad you had the locker?

Mike, something else to think about....

You mentioned - hauling? LONG BED

You mentioned - occasional people mover? You have another vehicle, how many people does it carry? These people you are referring to, are they small? Children? The distances at which you will carry these people...long or short?
Do you really need the Double Cab?

I bought the Access Cab because my husband has an SUV. I could've purchased the double cab, however, I don't necessarily need to carry people in the truck that could be carried in my husband SUV instead.

DCLB trucks are L O N G - and probably as long as a fullsize pickup. Will you need it to fit in your garage? My Access cab just barely fits in our garage. The length makes driving it (in tight spaces) a little more cumbersome (if any of that is important to you)

Please remove that picture from your computer. It violates copyright infringement section code 13-154.03. I own the sole possession value of it. Plus it makes me look bad. That is all. Thank you, drive through.

I have a DCSB and I don't even think my truck could clear that.

The DCLB is practical but just looks too oddly shaped for me

Alright, alright. The internet owns rights to my oddly shaped trucks pictures. I know I need a haircut, but I'd hardly say I look bad. I like my factory tinted windows because I enjoy shortbed owners seeing me laugh hysterically at them trying to stuff things in that mousetrap sized bed.

Buy a used sport or SR5 with the real mechanical LSD. A locker on pavement is a bad idea. Like potentially breaking an axleshaft bad idea. I think the long beds look a little funny and one wouldn't fit in my garage. But I wish I had one every time I load up my kayaks in my shortbed.

So we are in the process of buying a house. We had the inspection yesterday and i decided to measure the garage, wall to door is 235". Looks like i can get the longbed based off i read them being about 221"? Not too concerned about maneuvering it, we have a quad cab F250 with the 8 ft bed at work.
