    Greetings all.
My 2011 SR5 came with TRD rims. they also have the dreaded Toyota 6 star lugnuts that can only go on and off with the toyota star tool. I have replaced that 3 times now. Toyota says i cant use other lug nuts on those rims, Are they correct ( and i'm buying yet another tool ) or can I get aftermarket lugs for aluminum rims?

    thanks,
    Matt

Toyota uses two style of lugs (that I know of). Flange style and the style with the conical seat.

You need the kind with the conical seat. They do not have to be toyota brand lugs. Gorilla makes some that work with our wheels.

Edit: Standard style lugs that would fit a 19 or 21 mm socket do not work. there is not enough room between the rim material and the lug for even a thin wall socket.
