Searched several pics and different manufactures websites, still can't really decide. Who has the tightest fitting sliders with kick out? Not looking for use as a step but more for door dings and the real use of dropping them on things that would destroy rocker panels. TIA

FYI, any close fitting slider will provide near zero door ding protection.

Yeah, if you are wheeling hard enough that you want more protection than just about any slider with a reasonably sized kickout will offer, might want to just cage the think lol. IMO, all sliders bend/flex to some extent. If they are too close to the door jam, you run the risk of not being able to open your door or smashing your pinch weld

I had a slider with a kickout that stuck out about 1/2' past my tire when I did Hell's Gate in Moab. I slipped into the crack and the kickout stopped me from crushing my passenger side. No damage at all, I was sure I would have messed something up. After that encounter, I wanted a larger kickout, so I had some local guys (@YamaDirtrider and @Red Baron ) build me some sliders more to my "want"

If you want more side protection, I'd say a larger kick out and DOM steel for taking hard hits

    Not true.

OP I have zero degree sliders and once installed, you can clearly see they will help with door dings.

I think the OP is talking more along the lines of how "snug" Jeep sliders are. I don't think I've seen any sliders, not out of a custom fab shop, more than 20 degrees

Those are not close fitting, those are zero degree slider and protrude a good bit from the truck.

This style slider would suck on a tacoma IMO. You typically use the slider to pivot off of when wheeling in addition to damage protection. This style would leave you with caved in body panels and smashed out windows.

FWIW I have trail gears on my truck and I cut out the punch weld to get them closer to the rocker and havent had any issues with them flexing and messing with the doors. They do move and you can see where they dented the body a bit, but nothing major. I did rip one off the frame but that was due to some welds rusting, but surprise lol.

Those do look pretty snug but what's with the funky angle down on the ends? I'm sure it would take something very out if the ordinary to hang up on it but kinda defeats the purpose of a slider IMO if something is angled to catch instead of deflect.

Our 25 Degree sliders are extremely low profile to the vehicle, providing a great coverage for rock crawling. (Not the best for door dings)

Our 0 Degree while a great slider, provides a great step and helps with door dings.

 that is a bad controlled example of a door ding protection. If that truck was parked properly, all the way forward your fender would be getting fucking smoked. Sliders for "door ding protection" is completely laughable and fabricated here on TW. Could it stop a door ding? MAYBE. There's a lot of parameters that have to be exactly perfect to intercept a door ding though. This is just too funny. What some people have to convince themselves of to justify a purchase

Well, it just stopped one. So for a fact they CAN stop door dings. You lose, I win, have a great day buddy!

You want sliders for "door dig protection". You, most definitely lose. Won't tubesteps do the same?

What about the back door of most cars and SUV theres a cutout at the rear of the door for the rear tire which means sliders wont protect you at all.

Who said I wanted them just for door ding protection? I stated they can stop door dings. I bought mine for 3 reasons. Steps for my lady, protect my rockers from rocks, a little door ding protection. Maybe you need to smoke one you sound upset.
