I would go find a equivalent year 4runner in a junk yard and see if you can rip the HVAC routing out of one of those.

Where will you run ducts to get up into the headliner? I've had my entire interior out and don't see a way to run anything larger than a ~1/2" tube up there without some sort of external mounted ducting which would be fugly.

My AC seems to work pretty damn good. I prefer it over my wife's 3gen 4Runner.

Btw, my A/C is ice cold...gets real cold real quick. I thought the A/C in my Acura TL was nice, the Taco's A/C is phenomenal!

I have noticed that the under seat vents are rendered rather ineffective by Weather Tech mats. They are so tall that the vents are blocked. I think finding a way to raise and extend the ducts would help allot.

What about the c pillar? Are you saying you don't think it would fit by the seat belt mech?

From what I could see there is definitely not room to run much of anything.

One thing to also consider is how effective the air will be once it travels through this ducting. The vents under the seats are already so far away from the evap core that they are pretty ineffective.

There is a thread on here (or several) about opening the headliner to get in and outfit the roof panel with insulation. There are others that show insulation of the backwall and floor. When the ability to block out the heat goes up - it should cool ...... and heat better as well. There are some new paints and coatings that block infrared absorption (cuts direct heating by the sun by about 40%-50%) - and except for the fact that it is only available in 5 gallon pails ($250), I would have already PAINTED MY ROOF!

Cessna aircraft site has a neat BLACK airplane painted with the stuff - never possible in the past.
