Mud flaps and Trailer

Hey guys i am building an expo style trailer for my rtt and all my camping stuff. I am thinking i should really get mud flaps for my truck so i don't cover all my camping gear and rtt with mud, but i don't see anyone on the forum having mud flaps. Does any one have real world experience with this. Should i be worried about covering my trailer in mud?

Why does the truck not have flaps already? My last 5 Toyota trucks had flaps right from the factory.

With that said, you are still gonna get the trailer dirty. You won't be able to stop all the mud from getting on the trailer.

 

Mud flaps went away about 80k miles ago when i bought the truck and now that it is modded i don't want to just put the factory ones back on but rig up something removable that will only be on when the trailer is attached.

Really just wanted peoples experience before i wast time and money creating something that will fit my needs.

 

Someone recently posted something on here about some shorter,wider, flexible flaps. Forgot the brand but they looked good.

 

I think he said they were $80 a pair

I run flaps for many reasons. They are there for safety, not just cleanliness. Ever run down a forest service road and watch rocks fling into the air in your mirrors? If you're in Summit Co, I'm sure you drive quite a bit of dirt in summer plus all the "sand" on the roads in winter. Unless you're a FNG, you've probably already gone through at least one windshield living there. I moved here from Summit, so I know.

There's no practical reason to run without rear flaps. I just put them back on every time I rip them off. Mine were $25 on Amazon, I think. There was a thread on flaps and @DoorDing recommended them.

 

Yep lots of chips from rocks everywhere and lots of broken windshields. Probably gonna try to make something work
