My kid roached the engine on his 1994. He has the 4 banger. I found a 1988 longblock. Will it fit? Help!

If the 94 had the 22RE and the 88 has the 22RE then the long block should be the same. There were minor differences in the induction system but all of that should stay with the 94. Are they both the 22RE?

The 1988 is a 22RZ according to the guy. The roached one is a 22RE.

Ok, the problem is the guy now says it is a 1998 not a 1988, so I think I am screwed. 2RZ??? Will a 1998 fit in a 1994?

That would make sense. The 2RZ is the 2.4L tacoma engine. It will NOT be a direct swap for the 22RE. There are people who did the swap for the 2RZ or 3RZ but that is probably more work than you are looking for. If you are looking for longblocks there are many who sell a rebuild for a reasonable price.

I would keep an eye on craigslist as well sometimes people are selling used longblocks as well.
