Don't drive like a 16 year old who just got their license.

I just drove like I normally would. Easy on the gas & no high RPMs.

Test drive with salesman, easy going. First few miles, easy going. Then loaded it up, hit the road and didn't look back. Everyone has their own process and they all seem to work just fine. Treat it how you want, it's your truck.

Took it easy for the first 600 miles, then opened it up.
Vehicles that are "broken in" by being driven at wide open throttle whenever possible always seem to run better and last longer. They usually get slightly better fuel economy and are a touch faster than ones that people took it easy with, too
-Speaking from experience- 1989 Chev K1500, 525,000 miles on original 350... driven balls to the wall every day since new... has never, ever made me walk unless it was buried in mud:rolleyes:

The only thing I've ever done on any of mine when new is avoid extended driving at any one speed for the first 1k miles or so. Then change the oil after the first 1,000 and every 5K after that.

    I just drove my '06.

When I traded it @ 103k, it was still tighter than a boar's ass sewn up with a log chain.

"Avoid sudden stops" is so you don't glaze your brakepads before they wear in. New brakes all say that in the instructions.
"Avoid sudden acceleration" is pointed towards wearing in the ring and pinion gradually- new gearsets all say that in the instructions.
The rest of it is for what little needs done to seat piston rings and such. As mentioned before- new vehicles don't need such an elaborate break in as older stuff did due to advanced metallurgy, casting, and machining processes in use today

The sudden acceleration was easy. It was hard not trying to slam on the brakes. When I was under 1000 km's I had to slam on my brakes at two different times because of people cutting me off and trying to avoid an accident. Either way, it didn't effect the truck. 11,100 km's later, it still runs like the day I bought it.

All I use to drive was two door hatchbacks. Too many times I could have died driving. Now that I have a truck I am not concerned. It's still those trucks with the 8 inch lifts and shit bombing down the road.
