I'm actually a Tundra owner, but I have the 4.0L V6. I figure there's a lot more useful information here than the Tundra forums since my truck shares the same engine and a lot of drive train components with the Tacoma.

Actually I almost bought a Taco, but I really wanted the bigger bed & cab of the Tundra and the dealer actually gave me a double cab V6 Tundra for cheaper than they quoted me a Double cab Taco. 2010 double cab V6 Tundra @ $19,500. I try to look at it like I have an over-sized Taco instead of an underpowered Tundra .
