New Key - Programming Steps?

    Camper Shell / Custom Lighting in bed & Shell / Bigger offset Rims 17x9 / A/T Tires BF Goodrich K02 265/70/r17.
    Help! I recently bought a replacement Key for my 2006 Toyota Tacoma. I had it cut to size by my local locksmith, but now Im having trouble programming it to start my truck. It will open the doors but will not turn over the engine. ( Because I have not programmed the Chip in the Key ) Anyone out there with the same problem?

    The best way is to buy the ~$40 Techstream, put it on a laptop and program the truck yourself. With Techstream, you can also program TPMS sensors and do other cool stuff.
    2nd best option is to have the locksmith program your truck.

    Aux back up lights, Bed lights, Re-located trailer plug, Good dooby, a.k.a. jumper cable mod, Heated seats, back up camera,
    I brought 3 keys to a locksmith and he programmed mine for $50. Took him about 10 minutes.

    Edit: you can take the old key and place it near cylinder before you put the new key in. Quite the theft deterrent if you keep them separate.
