The Bilstein HDs might provide a stiff ride but good for not bottoming out.

shocks are not the component that carries weight, springs are.

I'm not aware of any coilover shock 'helpers' for the Tacoma rear suspension. It sounds like you'ld like an inexpensive fix, and you'll find here on the forum most folks go with airbags or add a leaf for your rear suspension. Air bag option is adjustable for load carry capacity. There are some folks that add leafs from Chevy or Ford leaf springs for an inexpensive fix.

Another option is to replace the stock Tacoma springs with Old Man Emu Dakar, or All Pro Expedition Leafs for much improved load carrying capacity. This is more expensive, will add lift, require new shocks with travel to match the new springs, but is one of the best long term solutions fi you carry weight often.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
I put Monroe OESpecs on my 2006 at 125k and was happy with them. Billies were too expensive and the originals rusted really bad. I also had Firestone RideRites on that truck, but I would have gone with the same even without. Reasonably priced and worked well IMO.

Yeah I've had them on my 2008 4x4 for 5 years. Stock ride when non-inflated, and pump them up with a bike pump I keep in the truck when getting cord wood. You can load it up to the cab roof (not recommended) and still ride level. Pro-tip, inflate them BEFORE loading the bed or you will sweat your ass off filling them like I did the first time. Install is not bad, 3-4 hours in a garage, a friend helps, need a jack and stands and some hand tools, plus a sawzall to cut off your bump stops, these will be your new bump stops and for that reason they always recommend min. 5psi. I drilled two holes on either side of the license plate and put the bulkhead air fittings there. It's better to leave them independent as it helps with sway control as opposed to joining them, the air will just go into the other side bag in a turn.

    Eric
