Hey guys, pretty new to the TW forums, so sorry for the length. Been driving my '07 Pre-runner DCLB TRD Sport (265/65/R17) since I got it in Dec 06, and for some reason finally realized I'm probably running with it forever. I've done some simple stuff this year (#thankscorona), like replacing my dingy ass headlights/foglights, added some bed stiffeners, and a skid plate. Finally looking to upgrade my OEM wheels, as I get ready to move from Florida to Pennsylvania next summer, and anticipate a bit more trail time.

In my head, I'd love to get some TRD Pro wheels (matte black I think), with some A/T wheels for a change. It looks like KO2s would be fun. I've historically just done tires at a dealer/tire store, and never wheels+tires anywhere, and was hoping for advice. I've had friends refer me to Tire Rack and Discount Tires, with the ability to get everything mounted/delivered, but they don't offer TRD wheels.

For someone that's just hoping to change 6 lugs and throw wheels on w/o much math or concern about offset, is the best bet just to order the wheels from Toyota and take it to a tire joint to mount/balance? Any recommendations on what to do with OEM wheels afterwards?

    Thanks!

Get the wheel data and dimensions from the wheels on the truck. Any aftermarket wheel with matching numbers will fit.

Tire wise. Find something you like and mate it to your wheels.

This is a straight forward no fail approach.

You may want to look at WheelsAmerica.com for potential wheels. This is a refurb place. They maybe willing to buy the wheels off your truck. A reasonable way to reduce the cost of the new rims.

That's awesome advice, thanks guys.

I've got a set of TRD Pro 4Runner wheels I've got my eye on, and I should be able to step up to 265/70/R17 KO2s without an issue on the 2007 SR5 right? Tried surfing around a bit, but most of the dialogue seemed to be 3rd gens, and most of the 2nd gen builds definitely have a lot more going on than I do.

So just to circle back, I did do a little Dremel trimming off the front plastic valence piece that hung into the front of the wheel well, and removed the front mud flaps (one was broken years ago anyway, so no real rubbing at this point with the 70s. We’ll see what happens if / when I hit any decent bumps!
