    Hi Everyone,
I'm new to Tacomas but recently came across a 2013 Tacoma double cab 4x4 with manual transmission and super low mileage. It has almost no bells and whistles.
My question is this... Since it doesn't have any TRD or SR package goodies (like a locking rear diff), is this still a good 4x4 for the occasional trail drive or beach trip? I wouldn't be doing anything too serious like climbing.

    Thanks,
    Sal

Yes, it is still a very good 4x4. A set of good tires will get you much further than a locking rear diff with stock tires.

Its listed for 28k. Does that price sound reasonable?

You don't need "TRD". If you visit this forum you're just going to end up replacing everything with aftermarket anyways. Sorry about your wallet.

How many miles exactly? From what I can remember when I was researching tacomas, doubble cabs are always significantly more expensive that access cabs and have lower mpg.

    how many miles?

my 2013 TRD off road 4x4 auto was 30900 before TTL, BRAND NEW.... i wouldnt say 28k for a base model 4x4 manual (auto is an 800 dollar additional option) used is a good deal.

    Hey sal,
Check out my review I just posted yesterday. Hopefully it will help you out. As far as price goes, I bought my cdoublecab long bed Trd sport with an automatic 4x4 for 30800 brand new two months ago. If you're already willing to shell out almost 30k why not just save a little longer and get a brand spanking new one of your choice. That way you will know everything that truck went through. Oh and you have a fresh frame to fluid film :)

That makes sense. If you looking at trucks with under 5k on them, you might as well get a new one. Get exactly what your looking for.

hmmm... ok i'll go in to my local toyota dealership today and see what they have to say. Not sure if I'll be able to get a double cab 4x4 for under 30k in the 2016 model (or 2015 for that matter) but i'll give it the old college try and report back.

    hi everyone,
so i did my due diligence, went into the toyota dealership and couldn't get them to let me have anything in 4x4 v6 fro under 30 grand... so although 28k for the one i'm looking at isnt the absolute best deal, its better than 34k for a new one or for something else used with higher mileage. or at least that's what i'll keep telling myself ;)

4k miles is totally worth $6,000. 4k miles is nothing. Just make sure it wasn't in an accident and do it.

Isn't this more than the truck was when putlrchased new?
I thought DC base were like 24k. Maybe I'm dreaming.

Be sure you're really clear about what options it has/doesn't have. Be sure you aren't telling KBB it's an SR5 (unless it is).

hold up , you may be able to get a hold of a 16 DBSB (SR5) 4x4 for around 30k, ask @OutKast about his deal he got it for 30k.
