I guess this gets filed under buyer beware, but I have a new (used) 2010 double cab TRD. From what I can tell, the standard door lock & key fob doesn't include a car alarm. True? The manual only talks about the chip in the key to allow the engine to start.

Am I missing something (besides a car alarm?!)
    Thanks,

Yep, no alarm. Just a chirp to simulate an alarm (unless it was disabled). But it won't start without the chipped key.

Drat. So does conventional wisdom day to use an after market viper (or similar) or does Toyota offer one that can added easily and cheaply? I'm guessing that the 2013's offer an alarm that plugs into the harness some where.

    Thanks!

IIRC, I read that there is wiring for an alarm, just need to add things to make it work. Don't hold me to that though. Do some searching on here, I'm sure there are a lot of threads on the subject.
