From an engineering stand point the truck in my option is a joke! They took a known good working model and killed it with the current set up. Why? Most of this is done for several factors not just for the hell of it. Weight, gas mileage and overall corporate fuel averages have to be meet for your builds. In order for all of this to happen there needs to be some give and take in the build and engineering process. Gone are the days of going from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds and burning a guard of petroleum in the process. Engines are getting smaller and transmissions are getting more efficient, but you loose that instant surge of the ponies propelling this mass of metal and plastic down the proverbial road of live. Trucks in any corporate portfolio are unfortunately the sacrafacial lamb to this as they are the worst offender to the cause of crappy numbers. If you were looking for a rocket ship that pulls 3
G’s you bought the wrong truck! You’ll never see it no matter how much money or snake oil you throw at this. Waste of time and money.

I agree and feel your frustrations. I’ve had my truck since the beginning of October. I’ve seen and felt just about all the complaints these trucks offer up. Piss poor engineering, shoddy build practices. Most if not all for the sake of the almighty dollar and to keep production costs down. Reminds me of the domestic brands.

Yes, that 15 minute test drive is a joke to real world use of any vehicle. CARMAX, Varoom and Carvana offer 5-7 day test drives prior to ownership. A word of warning with that business model. After the second time you return the buy, you’re blacklisted from buying the third. Just got the t-shirt!

 

Judging from your comments Scott, you own a Gen3 but regret the purchase. Didn't you test drive it? I test drove it, didn't like the performance and didn't buy it. Having said that, I think the trucks performance satisfies the majority of drivers because most people like that top end power. It does have better fuel mileage than my Gen2 and has a really cool interior. The trucks front end looks all big and bad but it's just not... and as much as I don't want a truck with a minivan motor, scores of people don't mind... apparently.

Drives better than the 22r in my 85 pickup and I don’t mind that either.
