hey guys I just got my 05 Taco, its a v6 auto. I bought it off my mom and every once in a while she would go out to her truck, try and start and nothing. Turn the key and the engine goes, no no no no no no no no.... lol so I was at work today it was after hours and I had just finished putting in a Ford Ranger leaf spring (I got about 2" out of doing so), i kicked the hoist pads in and as I said shes a no go.

I pulled off a fuel line, its go fuel. Pulled out a coil and plug, its go no spark.

I read about tsb EG-007-11 which is for intermittent no start but they say if you cycle the key once and then try and start it again that it WILL start. Unfortunately with my truck this is not the case.

Does anyone have any input ?

As of right now my truck is sitting in the shop at work waiting for me to come back to it and start probing at the PCM and see if there is a crank sensor signal.

To make matters worse, tomorrow is my first day of holidays and I'm stuck at work trying to fix my truck.

I work at Chrysler but all our Chrysler tools will not even read the Yota when you use the Generic Scan tool option. I gotta find someone with a generic scanner I can borrow.

Obviously it is an intermittant problem. Get a generic code reader FAST and check for a code before it cycles out. Start from there.

I took it to Toyota. The tech who looked at it said there was a code for the immobilizer. Sometimes when you leave the key in the ignition for a couple hours or even just and hour they will sometimes lock you out. So he cleared the code and sent me on my way.

Guess I'll make sure I dont leave my key in the ignition and keep an extra key in the glove box incase it does this again.

I am kinda leaning that way as a guess, but I want to get more info. but yes, very common with an intermittent crank-no-start.

Crank sensor should throw a code. In my case there was no codes.

Crank sensors can still fail without setting a code. Codes are not 100% perfect. I have seen several vehicles that had failure of parts and never once set a code. Just sayin. lol

Glad to see you got it figured out tho!
