I’m at 2500 miles. This is the first issue. I towed my trailer last night for the 20th time. Came home and left the trailer connected. Next day the truck would not start. It kept filtering between screens and messages. It seems like it was not recognizing the key. I tried 2 keys. It started once using remote start, then nothing. I finally disconnected the battery for 5 minutes. That fixed it. Has anyone else ran into this?

That's not the first time I've heard this. Did you try holding the key right at the start button? My truck had a tag with instructions to do this in case of this scenario. Either way it's a dealer trip.

I did not try that. It seems fine now. I’m going to wait. If it does it again, I’ll note all the messages. I’m not sure what to tell a dealer at this point.

So, if your key fob dies you are stranded?
Beginning to think I need an old clunker, but I don't want to have to fix one up.

Nope. There's an entry key in the fob to get you through the door, and you hold the fob next to the starter button and push it. There's a chip in the fob in case the battery dies.

In my case, I don’t think the key fob was dead. I tried all three fobs. Truck battery is 14v. Something else was going on

Are you going to bounce it off the dealer?

You might want to look at the thread on this site about getting stuck in trailer mode. It seems the software has some bugs related to trailer use.

Thanks, I'm still not sure if I'm trying to talk myself into getting one or out of it.

I just closed the deal on a new Taco. I've had that key fob since I bought my 2016 and really like it. It just stays in my pocket, and when I get in, I push the button and go.

If it happens again. I’m not sure what caused it at this point
