i have some procomp 7031 non hub centric wheels and running 285/75/16. im getting a serious shake in the steering wheel and a choppy wear on the tires. could this be because the rims? i still have my stocks and when i swap out everything is just fine? when im running the aftermarket set i also drift left no matter how i rotate the tires. Any ideas or help would be great. thanks.

You may need to have the wheels rebalanced, since the tires already have some choppy wear that can induce part of the shaking depending on if there cupped or no. On the other hand if you don't have the correct lug nuts it can also cause shaking, I've ran some lug centric wheels and ET lugs were a must.

Get you some hub-centric rings for your wheels. It will make a difference. You can get the plastic ones or the aluminum.

there are many factors that you'll have to look into. it could be just one issue or a combination of things. here's a quick check list:

    - check tire/wheel balance
    - check alignment specs
    - wheels should be torqued properly especially with lug-centric wheels.
    - check suspension components, bushings, shocks, ....

some tires can take a few tries to get them to balance correctly. hopefully, your tire guys are good at it. some wheels take a tremendous amount of weights to get balanced correctly as well. with lug-centric wheels, you have to make sure eveything lines up correctly and centered up when you mount them on. if anyone of these factors are off, it can lead to premature/uneven tire wear and shakes/vibration.

You may also want to try some extended thread lug nuts. They can help center lug centric wheels better.
