    Hello all,

I am planning on getting some type of cap/cover for a 13 Tacoma. I am not super sure which I should go for based on security/cost. My initial thought was to go with a foldable hard tonneau or hard cover, that are lockable because of the cost (I am trying to stay around $1k). BakFlip was one of the covers I was looking into, but after looking at the mechanism that locks the cover down, how secure is it? Would a Diamond back offer better security?

Or would a cap be more secure? I know they cost way more, but I would consider it.

I am planning on driving across the country and I want to make sure my stuff is secure in the bed.

    Thanks,

    JT

    Stock for now.. maybe
I always have cab height shells on my trucks so no info on tonneau covers. I like the shell for storage and you can put racks on top for other toys. All windows are able to lock but if someone really wants in they just have to break a window (hopefully that won't happen). You could tint the windows so it's harder to see in. I don't know if you have a locking tailgate (I dont) but pop n lock makes an aftermarket locking handle. I'm not sure but if you want to be fully locked, using tonneau or shell, you will need a tailgate lock? I try not to think about thieves too much, if they really want in they will get in. If you're lucky you can find either topper 20190717_134723.jpg

Diamond back is the way to go if you want hardcore security. Plenty of videos online showing what a tank they are. I almost bought one on the most recent group buy but ended up deciding on a Leer shell at the last minute.
