I've been lurking the 1st gen forum like a creeper:anonymous:, figured it was time I came out in the open.

I Purchased a 2001 Double Cab 4wd a few weeks back - upgrading from my 2wd Ranger xlt. I've got 2 boys (1 and 4.5) and they love heading out in the truck. It has 185K on it, timing belt done at 152, a stout ARB bumper, otherwise pretty stock. PO was a bit sketch. In the last couple of weeks I've replaced brakes, rotors, headlights, radiator and installed a tonneau cover (literider). Looking to bolt on one of @22REthan skid plates, upgrade to Bilstein 5100s, and maybe shift to 15 inch black rims with BFG A/Ts.

I really appreciate the wealth of info and support on the forum - I just worry that you all will lead me to temptation (and poverty) with all these sweet builds. I am no rock crawler, just want to get up in the wilderness trailheads with my boys, and go hunting in the fall.

Located in Northern NM. I teach at an international school up here and run a small farm. Let me know if you are in the area and have parts/tools I can mooch. Thanks!

What part of northern New Mexico? Areas around the Enchanted Circle is the reason I decided on a Tacoma over a AMG Mercedes. I think a truck encourages me to take my kids out and explore.

Man I love that area! Welcome to TW.

We are definitely in the Enchanted Circle! We live in Montezuma, NM, and have lots of family and friends in Santa Fe. Pecos wilderness is our backyard and I need a rig to get up to the sweetest and least frequented trailheads :)
