whats up guys. just signed up, ill post a pic or 2 in a little bit. im out in orange county , california. gots me a 2014 trd full cab, sadly its only 2x4, but im not trying to crawl over rocks anyways, i like the faster desert type trail stuff. for a 2x4 it handles pretty damn good. anyways, i was out in the rain last night and it became pretty evident that my stock lights arent gonna cut it. should i switch the headlights, or spend the arm and the leg on a rigid industries lightbar? thank you for whoever replies

If you have that kinda cash floating around, sure. But if your anxious about spending that much, there's cheaper options out there. I'm very happy with my vision x clones. Like a 1/3 of the price. Along with other cheaper brands, you'll get a ton of light for you money. With not much less output than the name brand bars. If I had the money I'd certainly be buying the nice ones. You can get a nice 30" for your bumper valence that I believe easily mounts on the crash bars for your truck, for cheap. However there are garbage lights out there. Just gotta do your research and shopping properly to find the good ones. Anything with Cree leds are good. I have single rows with 10watt leds and I love them. Lots of spread as well as distance. Used to be called "Sunyee Intl" on eBay for the seller I got mine from and constantly watch for new items. Now I think they changed name to "v-liteway". Got a lot of nice lights. Or tryAmazon. Check out the reviews on them. Members have promoted Eyourlife bars as well.. Personally, I'm not a fan of rigid....

So.. Baja designs or vision x if getting a name brand. Or clones of these on eBay if you're on a budget.

you can get all these lights locally in OC from @Jake Long15 . I replaced the stock driving lights with cubes, added two cubes to the grill and also have a windshield light bar, all from Jake. You can take a look at my set-up anytime. Quality of products is great and sercice/support is good too. Good luck!

Man I can't wait to get that setup. Got a rat's nest of wires goin on under my hood. Ha.

And good point with this stuff too. I've had relays get water in them... No bueno..

If you're only going for a single light bar, might be excessive to have all this. But if you plan to add any more in the future, definitely get this op. You could get this and a cheaper bar for much less than getting a rigid by itself, and have a super clean install. I've got , how many now, 8 different lights that need rewired with a fuse box and all the extra goodies. Too lazy to get it done. Ha.

get HID headlights... got mine from DDMtuning.com i also replaced my fog lights. damn bright, and i love my color...
with my fogs and headlights(35 watt fogs, 55 watt headlights) on, they are super bright, and street legal, and you won't have a problem seeing in the streets, or off road at night...

Just checked em out, looks cool. The only reservation I have is the constant brightness in peoples mirrors all the time, wish there was a way to switch brightness modes

Just so you know, hids in halogen housings are technically NOT legal. But it isn't enforced either. I'm not entirely against it.. But I advise not doing that. I will suggest doing a proper projector retro if anything with the headlights. But if you're looking for off road lighting only, a light bar is a lot more light for your money.

Also on a side note regarding hids. If going anything above 5k Kelvin, the effectiveness in rain will be severely diminished. Even normal driving. And is harder on the eyes. If you really do go the hid route minus projectors, at least get the bixenon kit. Just my .02

And another thing, since I reread your op.. you can get away with even smaller aux lights. Maybe just some ditch light brackets and some led cannons? You said you like to go fast.. so range is what you're gonna want to go for. I have some vision x 4.5" led cannon clones. Pretty cheap. And a shit ton of light. Pretty good distance. And a good amount of spill light as well. Maybe not as far throwing as the real deals, or maybe even hid spot lights, but really good lights. Baja designs squadrons are really sweet too at a great price. But if you're going for trail lights, for high speed, I'd go for some spots, maybe a cheap flood bar too in the valence. The vision x cannons have swappable snapon covers. And the Baja designs have interchangeable lenses as well. Really awesome trail lights. And more than enough to make up for your needs.

And here's my review on the vision x cannon clones:

Thanks for all the replies, all good choices from what it sounds like.I'll probably try to go with a '20 or '30 for the bumper
