New to the Toyota world. Site seems like a wealth of good knowledge as most quality forums are.

I am new to the Toyota scene. Have hopes of getting into a Taco or Tundra in the future. Needing a truck for DD, with offroad/trail ability but nothing crazy. I compete in Long Range Tactical Precision Rifle comps and do l some long road trips to get to the matches.

Thinking a Tacoma DC OR with about a 3" lift would suffice my needs well. I measured the rifle case and it will fit in the 5' box on the short bed. Top it off with a quality topper to keep the gear dry during the drive should do the trick.

Been reading on Chux beach build and seems very close to my end goal.

    Welcome to TW

Yeah my pelican case for my rem 700 fits in my short bed just fine with room to spare!

If you are looking for power and comfort, get a tundra.

If you are looking for good fuel economy, easy handling in the city, and overall awesomeness, get a Tacoma

Honestly those are the reasons I was leaning toward the Tacoma. Love the looks of the Tundra, but not sure I want to feed that as my DD and on the long trips.

Also a tundra is a little more $$$ that you could use for ammo, mods, etc
