So the new Tacoma has been out for some time now. Is anyone else feeling as frustrated as me that the radio locks out many certain features of the truck is on the move/not in park?

One of my biggest complaints is the inability to use the navigation feature in its entirety while I'm driving. For example, I'm on the road and decide I want to plug in the address for the nearest Jamba Juice. It's locked out. Thus having to use my cellphone.

Please, please tell me there is a hack out there? My brothers new '15 Mazda did this but there was a hack for that system and now he can play videos and text message from his stock stereo.

In this situation, the voice recognition feature is your friend. I've found it very easy to input addresses while driving.

For example: I just the speak button and say "directions to 123 Main St. Atlanta, GA" and it pops up. Or I say "Directions to Publix" and it asks me if I am looking for one near me, etc...and then it pops up with my options. It's actually easier than doing it by typing into the keypad on the screen.

its prob 3rd party hack where it fools the ecu head unit that the vehicle is only moving at 2-3mph. only problem you cant leave it switched on in this mode all the time as it confuses the shit out of the oem navigation unit.

My biggest gripe is that when moving, it doesn't allow me to browse all my pandora stations. It lets me browse 2-3 pages, and then tells me I need to stop the truck to browse more. Pretty lame.

I just want to be able to turn the volume of the navigation voice while moving.

The Pandora browse is annoying too. Heck it's all annoying not being able to use 100% of the features and having to resort to using your phone which IMHO creates more distraction/danger while driving. Or your 'passenger' could do all that for you I suppose

OP, I also get frustrated that the nav doesn't work when you are driving. There is no reason my wife shouldn't be able to use the nav to change locations or find food or gas.

I am sure for safety reasons the nav is disabled while moving, but a passenger should be able to use it. The air bag sensor is activated when someone sits there so that could possibly be used as a nav safety switch.

Regardless, I seldom use the nav as the phone is a much better option.

some and more and more and more and
sub'd. It bothers me to. What if my wife wanted to put in an address or search for music through my I pod or Pandora ?. But yet Toyota gives you dozens and dozens of buttons to still distract you just as bad.
