so I have seen this here on the forums, on review videos of trucks, and at the dealer during the first 20k matienance freebies. Everyone keeps saying compared to the competition the interior of the Tacoma is outdated. Outside of Apple car play, I don’t see anything outdated on a 18 OR with tech package. Can someone explain to me what’s outdated? I am genuinely curious and don’t understand what they are referring to.

I got the Tacoma over other vehicles because it’s still “relatively” simple. Though compared to my gen1, I feel like I’m driving a super computer spaceship.

Have you seen a Chevy lately? It still looks 10 years old. Or a Nissan, or a Ford F150??

That kinda my point is they keep saying it’s so far behind but the Chevy and ford look terrible to me. Also I don’t see any tech it doesn’t have?

I couldn’t disagree more. If you want an outdated interior, sit in a new 4Runner.

The Taco interior is on point. Maybe the Apple Car Play isn’t there, but that’s it.

I agree, the only thing I see is no Apple car play and I can’t think of anything else but it keeps being brought up. Materials look good to me as well. Gotta be something or it wouldn’t be patrioted so much

It's pure propaganda by the competition because Tacoma sales have surpassed all other companies combined.

I must not know what an updated interior looks like (I’m fine with that)

Why no remote start even on top of the line models? Mid level gm and ford almost all have remote start. That’s a fairly big one that Toyota is missing. Besides that, some complain about entune but I think it works pretty damn good.

Soft plastics, antiquated nav system, incomplete entertainment system, no height adjustments on seats. Chevy and Ford are kinda the same way. The Ram interiors are very nice and they have one if not the best interactive nav/stereo etc systems on the market. Kind of makes the Tacoma’s feel like a child’s toy in comparison. But you have better resale and possibly reliability (jury still out on 3rd gen)

I’d say there are some older style components; side mirror select and adjustment switch is antiquated, radio head old style “built into console” vs tablet style, cruise control “stick” is old school (been around for years), 4x4 selector switch (still a knob), on/off switches for things that should just be on all the time... oh yeah, no power seats and no vertical adjustment available, just to name a few.

I’m a fan of the interior. But it is way way behind compared to the competitors. It’s a good thing for long term reliability. Easy to fix.

Have you seen the huge screen in the Dodge Ram?

I think the folks blasting are talking about the seats. I have no complaints about mine, I
like mine and think they are comfortable.
I am 5’-11”, with a sunroof, no clearance problems either.
Seems most of the reviews are bias towards the competition since Tacoma is number 1
    seller in its segment.

Are you kidding... look in a Mercedes-Benz new E class for current auto mid-class trim and tech capability... and if you really want to see a top of the line interior and head of class technology, check out the inside of a S Class AMG variant. Of course it’s not a fair comparison... just pointing out what good materials and quality craftsmanship look like. When I exit my wife’s Mercedes GL550 and get into my Tacoma, I know (not just feel) that I entered a toy... but that’s what I wanted.

    Mercedes?

    Mid class?

    GL550? Dude, that's a 100k car.

If you want an outdated interior, look in my 2011 Fit. The Taco's fine.

Really what are people expecting out of a truck interior? I very specifically got the SR5 because I can't stand push-start or instantly-out-of-date integrated navigation.

At least when I get into my Tacoma, I know it ain’t gonna break down and can count on it.

Like a Conestoga wagon? Not quite that good, but there are a few real wood trim panels placed strategically throughout the cabin...
