P0022 code

Does anybody have any good info on this code? I saw somebody post up some document that had quite a bit of info from another code and was wondering if there was something similar for this one. I dont know where to start with it. I looked at the print out from autozone when they cleared it, but it didnt tell me much.

I am thinking about swapping my camshaft position sensor to see if it is going bad or if there is some bad wiring. I dont know what they look like though. If somebody could snap a picture from a second gen v6, that would be awesome.

If somebody else had this code, what fixed it for you?

 

Where is this located at? I'm mechanically stupid.

 

If this is the case, would the CEL go off by itself? Here's what has happened. It first started doing this when I was going through the creek and mudding some to get to my hog trap. It would come on and it stayed on for a couple days til I got it read and cleared at autozone. Same thing the next time. Cleared it after driving back to town and drying off. Now it is coming on more frequently and is still going off by itself. I have always changed my oil at 3k and no more than 5k until I switched to royal purple a couple changes ago. I dont remember if I had already switched when this started happening or not. I dont have rough idle when this code is thrown. I was always thinking it was wiring or a bad sensor. Any thoughts, or do you still think it is the OCV?

 

It would roll over the hood when forcing my way through it. The creek has some pretty good flow and I would have to go against the current. If I stopped, it would probably come to the top of the bumper or to the first crossbar in the grill, I would suspect. Havent been through it in a long time though, but it may have done some damage. Dont see how it would get into too much though on top. It should have had an air pocket in there.

 

No, no snorkel, although that would have been much easier on my mind if I had one. We have crossed this creek hundreds of times and it gets kinda hard to judge the water levels. It washes away all our landmarks that we try to judge by.

As far as the airbox goes, it goes into the side of the engine compartment right at the top(I assume to try to be a CAI setup) and draws it's air from the fender well. Does it extend down any or just stop once inside the metal on the side? If it doesnt go down, I would think I would be safe, if just barely.

 

A snorkel would probably be a good investment if I plan on doing much more of that I guess.
