With Pedal Commander, some people claim get "Check Engine Light" in dash, or other issues. Get a "tune" for your Tacoma, way better. If willing to spend money.

80% of the time it won't hurt the PCM. The Pedal Commander may occasionally draw too much current and bring the voltage down enough to throw a code and put the engine in limp mode, but it shouldn't damage the PCM.

Important to note, that is a marketing video for the Banks iteration of the same style of product.

To answer your question directly, no it shouldn't damage the ecm.

(As you could guess from my bio, i'm biased but) I would suggest just spending that money on a tune of your choice. It can't be changed on the fly like with a pedal commander but they can also setup your throttle response to your liking.

What has you interested exactly in a pedal commander? Do you want a more sensitive throttle? Are you finding a delay in the throttle?

Does what it is suppose to do.

I put a Pedal Commander in my 2014 Tacoma and loved it. Quicker response to throttle, and allowed me to pick my degree of "boost". Bought it in '21, no problems or codes, just traded the '14 for a '19, and will probably buy another one for the "new" truck. BTW, both were/are 4 cylinders...

Im in the camp of pedal controllers are stupid aswell but I would go the banks route over a pedal commander if I were to do so. It's simply designed much better.

I've had one on my 2018 GMC Sierra and my 2015 tacoma. Love them. They work as advertised. Have had no issues and it's nice to push the gas and the car actually responds.
