Ok, this may be odd. I purchased my Taco a few weeks ago, had the headlights replaced by the dealership (for free: warranty) and one of them stopped working.

I popped the hood and found out that there's nothing to keep the battery in place and it slipped forward and jammed the connector loose for the headlight and bent a pin.

Hence the request, need to find out how the battery is normally secured (factory hardware) so I can duplicate or replicate. I'm afraid it may happen again the next time I have to break hard and it will crack the connector.

Where about in Texas are ya? I changed out my battery hold down to use a bigger battery, so I think I still have the OEM stuff laying in the garage on a shelf somewhere. I can take a look tomorrow, and if its still there, you can have it.

Go to autozone and get a battery hold down with J hooks. Or, go back to the dealer and ask the service manager why your hold down was removed and left off when it was in for warranty work.

I'm in Houston, west Houston, Katy to be exact. Send me a PM if you're nearby.

Yeah, I may have to get one from AutoZone. I don't think it had one when I bought it and I'm not sure if the dealership is under any obligation to give me one although it does seem like a safety hazard to have a big battery just bouncing around in there.

take it to the dealer... they likely removed the battery to access the rear of the light and forgot to put it back in.

Thanks, I'll give them a call but I'm pretty sure it wasn't there when I bought it.

PM sent. I have the bracket and hooks. I'm in west Houston as well, about 10 minutes from Katy.

Update: The battery hit the connector again and this time broke a pin off the headlight mating connector. Since it didn't do that before I had it serviced I am suspecting they took it off and didn't replace. They'll be getting an earful tomorrow (closed today).

    Update:

RacecarGuy, thanks for the bracket, it was a pleasure meeting you.

After having to speak to a manager they agreed to fix the headlight. I've got an appointment this coming Saturday. Their qualified techs keep bankers hours so during the week was out of the question.
