I might be a little late but here is mine, I don't feel any cracks.

Framewise he MIGHT be in the 12 yr window for the final inspection. 12 yrs to the day of when the truck was first put into service.

Presuming they did the initial inspection and coated (which it looks like) the truck gets a second/final inspection in that 12 yr window. Went through this with my 2010 and at 11.5 yrs had 2 holes I found, so it got reframed.

That said, it sounds like there's more at hand here

I'm not thinking it's a crack. I too, think there would be some rust. I think it's a bit of a 'smear' of metal from the bending process when the frame was formed.

FWIW my 2013 does not have that line or crack in it. If in doubt about the truck just pass on it. The trucks are not that rare and there is always a nicer one out there.

    Thanks for all the input.

Taking a pass on this one. Going to look at a 2010 DC with 150k on it (clean underneath and runs great) and a 23 DC with 12k on it. Both are clean and manual transmission which are hard to find in my area.

    All stock, baby!
My 2011 taco had some frame rust that I decided to treat and paint last year. After reading this thread yesterday, I took a look and I absolutely have that line next to the rear shock towers. It is not a crack, same situation as with the OP where your fingernail can catch it, but there was no rust whatsoever. Believe me, if it was possible for it to rust, my truck would have had it. But I am certain there was no rust in that area when I did the work.
