Post your mpg

Chief Tacoma, that is commuting back and forth. Probably 7 1/2 commuting trips and the rest short runs including highway. I average 45 mph +/- on the eco screen, due to slow downs and getting to the interstate. I cruise at about 64 mph when I can. Prettying typical to get 25+ mpg without paying attention on commutes. I think its more about driving habits. While I liked the 4.0 and 5spd transmission of my Gen 2, this truck is growing on me the more I drive it. Getting 25+ in a 4dr 4wd OR is nice! I didn't expect it and is a bonus I'll take the trade off. I was lucky to get over 20 MPG in my Gen 2 most trips.

 

I took a 80 mile trip with my family. My wife and my 2 kids plus about 300 lbs of cargo.

I am very satisfied with my mpg. Keep in my mind I am driving a MT OR rated for 20mpg highway. I didn't execeed 70mph the whole way and it included some steep hill and a mountain climb.

This is a great result.

Mostly city, maybe 80 combined highway miles.

I don't know how everyone is attaining such great mpg. Only once I got 22.2 and that was all open highway at 65 tops.
Mixed driving now I'm barely at 18 mpg with 2016 double cab TRD 4x4 3.5 v6 mated to a six speed manual and very conservative mixed highway and local. Local here in northwest Ct is hilly and locally the town roads are a bit congested. Lots of short trips AC on in summer most of the time.
I've been using mostly shell 93 nitro premium or other top tier premium. At first I noticed a 1 mpg increase with the shell premium.

I think maybe since at 15,000 I've become more familiar with the Tacoma and possibly have returned to a heavier foot on the gas but I'm no speedster nor do I rocket off the line or pass quickly. Highway I average 75 mpg tops.

I must be doing something wrong. No load. No towing. Only one passenger occasionally.

Would love to see those mpgs you guys get. It seems most of you have four cylinders or two wheel drive. ?????

Dannyblues, my commute is fairly flat (slight rolling hills). With traffic and and a couple city streets from my house to the freeway I average a little less than 50 mph. I try to keep it 63 +/- cruising. I don't ride on someones butt all the way in hitting my brake and the accelerator. I typically see mid 20's on my commute. If I try to really be light on the accelerator I can get upper 20's and low 30's. My truck is a 4 dr 4wd OR. Typical driving around town stop and go is 20+. Highway speeds cruising 70+/- I probably get lower 20's (I suspect 22-23 mpg). I think someone posted a chart of speeds and MPG. I assume there are assumptions with it flat ground, etc...

 

I filled up early in the morning.
2.79*15.5= 43.24

That tank ran about 271 miles but avg at 18 mpg combined.

 

2017 Tacoma Pro 4WD, A/C at all times (in FWTX), highway only 25% of the time, guessing. I usually get 19-22...rarely more or less. I like the way it drives when I hit the ETC button, but rarely do so. I actually got better mpg with it on? But that could be due to something else I'm not accounting for.

 

Just to add to this thread, one fellow referred to ETC (traction control) with regard to fuel consumption. I guess he meant ECT (Electronic Control of Transmission) which may influence gas mileage according to certain posts.
I have not personnaly experimented with that so far but I will certainly try out this settting on hilly roads for performance sake.
On the other hand, I noticed a difference of about .5L/100km less between travelling from west to east in my area of the country. Other drivers reported such a difference possibly due to the influence of dominant winds.

 

I made an interesting observation over the past 2 weeks or so. 95% of my driving comes from my work commute on the PA turnpike, which is during the hours of 6-7am and then 4-5pm.

2 weeks ago I was asked to come in 2hrs earlier, and immediately noticed that traveling in the 4-5am hours my fuel mileage took about a 2mpg hit(23.5-24.5mpg range was the best I could do). No change in mpg for the travel home, as I always left at the usual time.

ffwd to this week, leaving at my original morning time and mpg is back where it always was (26-26.5 mpg in the am, three days in a row now).

I've always heard of traffic and the air currents helping mpg, but no way I thought it would be that much. I don't even try to draft the semis. I drove the same speed, ambient temps weren't any different than usual.

 

You have to be driving like a grandma. There is no way in hell you can be driving like a normal person and be getting those kinds of numbers.

 

Vlaude's post is pretty specific about the way he drives. I drive much the same way, although ... not for long as many of the 55mph construction zones are going away. Finally! It's been 6 years ...

 

26 mpg? I can't get that coasting downhill with a tailwind. I try not to drive like a d!ckhead, but I get 18/20 at the most.

 

This is about what I get on the same route when I drive 75-85 the whole way. I have the 4 banger, but there are a few on here that have proven the 3.5L to be as efficient.

 

just hgot my 17 trdsport last week and run 1 tank of gas, dealer filled it so i don't know what grade of fuel was put in it or if it had ethanol but like it wasn't ethanol free, onbly have a few stations that advertise it. Firts tank, computer is saying 11.2l/100 kms. My 13 SR5 was pretty consistent on 15l/100km so i'm please so far.

 

I have a 2016 Limited 4X4 with about 22K miles. I get within 1 MPG of 22 MPG on every tank and it doesn't matter if I am in town or on the highway. When on the highway I always used the cruise set to 65mph. On two trips recently, I travelled about 40 miles at 65mph without the cruise and one ended with 26mpg and one almost 29mpg! I notice that if traveling at 65 on level highway and I engage the cruise I can hear a slight sound but there is no change in the rpms. What is going on?

 

I have a similar truck to you except its an OR and it has mostly averaged 20 since day 1, I snapped a pic a couple weeks ago when I pulled in the gas station for fill up, the dash said 21.1 for the tank but it was actually 21.3 after I did the math so that is not too bad.

 

I'm getting 19-21 with mine.

 

2016 DCOR stock 6cyl Automatic 50/50 hi way/city daily commute with small hills I get 17 or 18 mpg 8500 miles on the truck. I once drove a 200 mile interstate trip @ 75 mph on pretty flat road and got 19 mpg.

 

I have a 2017 SR 4x4 4cyl manual. I have a 20 mile round trip commute at 55-60 mph.I also have to downshift to go uphill partway. Weekend around town driving. I consistently get 19.5-20 mpg.

 

I have a 16 the other day mine said 17 when I checked old school way I got 20 but I'm lifted 6" and running a 22x 12 American Force wheels with 33s so I'm very happy with 20mpg
