i currently own a Subaru crosstrek and live in Rochester NY. I am trying to decide if I want to trade in the crosstrek for a Tacoma and the usual lift and tires. Living in ny I don’t have any of the crazy off roading but still trying to figure it out. Trade in or just put a lift and bigger tires on my crosstrek. I know this is a Tacoma forum so there is a biased but maybe I can get some pros and cons from owners as well as what your favorite thing about the Tacoma is.

Anything wrong with the Subaru that is making you seek another truck? And welcome aboard btw.

Nothing wrong with the Subaru just feel like I am too low to the ground sometimes that’s why I am looking into a lift and tires for the crosstrek or possibly trading it in for a 2020 when they come out.

Can you actually put a lift on the Subaru? Are you willing to have a truck bed now instead of an SUV type of vehicle?

Yea there are some good lifts for the crosstrek and the bed doesn’t bother me.

Live in NY huh? I dunno. Maybe the smaller Subaru might be more ideal for living there? Lots to consider here..

Well. A truck is always useful to have. And then again so is a SUV. Got kids? Do you intend on going off road alot? Hauling things? Towing things?

I do have kids and i would like to do some off roading. Like i said I am in Rochester NY so there isnt a ton of it around me unless i find some private land i can get to there is no public land in this state. I would like to get a camper or get a large roof top tent. My wife and kids like to camp a lot and taking two suvs full of stuff gets a little annoying. I like the gas mileage of the crosstrek but i wish i sat higher and it was a little more powerful.

Get the Tacoma then. The bed will be good for what you want and there are alot of options for the bed like tonneau covers to keep your stuff dry. You will sit up higher and you will have plenty of power. Get the V6 engine. Gas mileage I'm not sure about on your Subaru. It may be better than the Tacoma but it is a trade off for what you want.
