I happened to pull the rubber back behind the door jamb. It was full of leaves, the ones at the bottom has already decomposed. I vacuumed and washed it out. Anyone else notice this before? Looks like the cavity goes up to the windshield wiper area and also behind the fender well.

I've had to clean it and kill an ant colony twice in that area on both sides.

I pull the rubber out, get as much as I can by hand, then blow the rest out through the bottom with my air compressor. Works pretty good.

I've noticed that too, if you lift your hood look at the hinges. That's where they collect and find their way down. Ended up putting some plastic gutter screen w/plastic ties, but they still manage to find their way down into that cavity.

"Dog friendly, with dog snot on inside windows, with of" Me to billybob50! Occasionally, I have to carry a client, or two, in my Tacoma. I keep a bottle of Windex and some paper towels handy for those occasions. We just don't need to lose sight of the real reasons we work, do we.

The same shit everyone else has.
Once you get it clean, spray some sort of rust inhibitor in there if its gotten to the point of needing it.

Fender dog legs typically rot out from the inside out because they collect shit like that and it gets neglected.

The easiest rust inhibitor is biodegrable motor oil. Clean as much as possible and the oil will soak through whatever is left and help inhibit rust forming from the moisture that is there. While you're at it, squirt up through the dran holes in your doors pop off the plugs and squirt the rocker panels too. Do it once a year and it will NEVER rust.

Thankfully not fireants. Just little black ants that were crawling on the dash and center console. Cleaned those areas and they went away.

My wife would leave candy and bubble gum wrappers. Thrown in the ashtray, years ago and this would attract ants. I purchased some ant bait (Terro Liquid Ant Baits) so they would take it back to the nest (queen) and kill them all. I've notice even tree sap will attract them into the cab of the truck!
