Well it's been popular for 30+ years in Australia and Africa. Trends have just finally come around to the states since people are actually building stuff they can use instead of 10" lifts and chrome 20's . Toyota just gave in to an aftermarket following that has existed for a while now . Just think of the wrangler business model. They finally took notice of the aftermarket following and are making big bucks 50+ on outfitted rubicons counting on customers to be lazy and just want to buy it. Stay tuned for the trd bedrack option .

Who are we kidding. I mean the grill is ugly and all. The snorkel really doesn't matter, but with this truck you get:

    Dual Lockers
    A bunch of armor
    Trick Shock absorbers
    More Power
    A Diesel Option
    Steel bumpers

I don't think they are copying the TRD Pro.

Meh. I offroad with a ZR2 friend and can say the ZR2 is very capable but a stock Tacoma can go anywhere it can.

The few times we have gone out together the ZR2 will go around the harder obstacle.

The armor is superficial, the sliders are body mounted not frame mounted and there are no real skids. Only splash guards.

The shocks fade and the lockers are overkill for the trucks capability. It will never be on a position to use them.

The new Pro seems exceptionally odd now with both a scoop and snorkel..how many intakes does it need??

Toyota could add a roof scoop.
