I’m running LT275/70/18 Falken AT4Ws in Load Range E. I set them to about 33-34 cold. After 3500 miles I’m wearing the outer tread down to 16/32 and the inner is 17/32. It comes with 18/32.

I will do a chalk test when I get back home from a road trip. But just wondering whether anyone has had a similar experience. Most folks here run E at low pressures with no issue. Is a 1/32 difference a big deal? I suppose I won’t know until I get more miles on it. Is it wearing down the shoulders at twice the speed or just 1/32 more? Hard to say.

I could air it up to 37-40 but then it rides like shit. Maybe 35 is a compromise and just see what happens.

anyone with this experience let me know thoughts. I’d prefer to keep the pressure lower unless this is a big issue.

this is a great question — it’s all four but possibly only because I got them like 2 thousand miles before the toyota rotation so they’ve all been on the front for about 1500-2000 miles .. lol impossible for me to tell I guess

Alignment with a bad toe can cause that wear

Normal, toyota runs positive camber on the trucks so it will always wear tapered in.

Proper tire pressure for that size, based on the door sticker converted to the new size, is 36 psi. It shouldn’t be based on ride quality, E load tires were used and not much can be done about that, unless you prefer odd wear in lieu of harsh ride quality.

A slight difference in treadwear on the edges is normal to some degree also because of the IFS camber. Although in my experience that is only really prevalent on SL tires and not LTs.

thanks - I know it’s not based on ride comfort and I know the load conversion but there’s generally an acceptable Range within which one can optimize - lots of folks on here run E around 32-34 — apparently that’s too low on my setup - 36 sounds right but I may run it a bit longer to see if it gets worse or stays the same differential

    Yeah.
E-rated tires require more pressure. I'd use 37. I plugged numbers into the tool here: upload_2024-12-30_11-2-21.png

On a 4th gen the OEM is a 265/70R17 SL 115 (no P) @ 30 psi. Puts the pressure rec at 36. Splitting hairs obviously.

Here is the LT275/70R18 tire pressure chart with maximum tire load capacity at determined tire inflation levels for LT275/70R18 tires.

Find your old load weight at the old PSI and find the closet load weight capacity on the chart below...
If it was 2326 @ 32PSI then the new PSI should be about 42PSI...

The 2326 psi was calculated off of an SL load tire which has an extra 10% overage added in. Need to remove that when calculating for an LT. So, take out 232 lbs and you’re down closer to the 35 psi mark.

It’s 37-38 based on load calc from 265/70/18 oem at 30 psi - I know the load load equivalent but trying to get real world feedback from people running similar tires

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
That goes out the window when you change tire size. Use as reference, not bible.

True. But, you can use that information, along with this calculator to find the appropriate pressure. Although, a lot of people will still adjust to their preference.

I was simply trying to find the correct load rating of the tire to compare it to the chart I posted latter that you must have missed sir...

i used the calculator - it’s 37-38 PSI for equivalent load going from metric 265/70/18 at 30PSI to E load 275/70/18
