    Good afternoon/evening,

always been one to look through forums rather then post but cannot find anything to help with a issue I’ve been having and wanted to see if anyone has had a similar problem.

I have a 2017 TRD sport 4x4 and have developed a slow pulsating humming between 25 and 65 mph that goes away after driving for 15-20 minutes. Thought it was tires originally, but leaning towards the diff fluid possibly being low.

Sound doesn’t change when turning, get quieter/louder with acceleration/deceleration.

anyone have this happen? Thanks for any response in advance.

easiest first check is to rotate your tires to eliminate any sort of wear pattern causing the noise.

There is a bulletin to replace the needle bearing in the front differential - I had a similar noise and replaced this and it worked great. There is clamshell (East Coast Gear Supply) CV Axle bushing in the front differential which replaces the needle bearing. Not sure if it's your noise or not, but it sounds just like my noise. Only difference is mine was covered up by road noise from tires, with speed. Hope it helps.

an easy way to check if it is the needle bearing is putting it in 4wd. i havent heard of a failing needle bearing to make a humming noise usually you will get a vibration in your steering wheel at lower speeds. In 4wd if the vibrations go away its a good sign its the needle bearing.

Still doesnt hurt to try it. if your humming sound goes away in 4wd its probably the needle bearing

Needle Bearing or wheel bearing likely.
