Purpose of spacers

Besides pushing the tires out further, what's the purpose of spacers and if it's to just push the tires out further, what will that do for you

 

More aggressive stance without spending the money on new wheels.

Give clearance if you're rubbing part of the suspension.

They also increase the scrub line, so sometimes you trade one rub for another.

I got them because my calipers were rubbing my new wheels. I wish I didn't need them though.

 

I will have spacers on the rear of my truck. Exactly for the purpose of pushing out the tire. I will be running 35x12.5R17 tires which at factory length would rub on my new bypass shocks due to the width of the tire. So I purchased spacer to help with the clearance.
