well.......no luck for me today. i left the house at 5:45am.......and it was friggin 70 degrees!! got to my stand, and sat for a few before i started nodding off. it finally got light, and the wind picked up pretty good....we ended up having 40 mph gusts, and the rain came. right before the rain came tho....i nodded off and woke up to see a big ol deer about 70 yards in front/to the right of me crossing the creek...........didnt have a shot. i couldnt tell if it was a buck or doe, but im gonna guess doe.......but she was pretty damn big. as far as i could tell....she came outta the swamp area. i went to the truck for a smoke and some gatorade, then came back in and sat for a while.......sun was out by this time, but it was too damn windy to be there and do any good.

its supposed to be 38 in the am......so im guessing the cold front has just about made it here........so im gonna be there bright and early again......and i aint falling asleep this time either dammit!:D

hope some of ya'll had better luck today than me and trdman!!

No better here guys.......did let a little six pointer walk.

    Temp was 40deg all day.......

Raining when I walked out the front door, full Gotex and armed with a tree umbrella and some hand warmers. Still raining.

Bumped 2 deer walking in, too dark to shoot. Still raining.
Got in the stand by 6:00 am packing a full days groceries and drinks. Still raining.

Caught a glimpse of a deer in thicket at 7:30. Still raining.

Tried to use some mind control to stop shivering due to the high wind and......yes.......RAIN. At 8am I opened my eyes to see a basket six point standing 30 yds. Could of killed him, but prefer to kill does for meat. I like to leave the little bucks alone. RAIN............

Due to the Gortex suit being wet on the outside, by evaporation, the wind was pulling out my body heat. Still raining.

At 9am decided to put up tree umbrella. Don't like it b/c the deer can see it quickly. Not natural in the woods. It was the only way I could stay on stand though. Still raining.

Put hand warmers on each shoulder and in each front pocket. $50 Gortex gloves were useless by now, saturated to much to take off and on. Did I mention it was freaking raining!!!!!

It did finally quit raining at 3pm. For the record that is 9 hours worth of solid steady rain. I know cause I watched it.

Put feet back on the ground at 5:50 pm.

And yes............I'm dumb enough to do it all over again tomorrow. I think tomorrow will be a better day........I hope.......

yeah.......sunday hunting round here is good....pretty quiet for the most part.

went this am......got cold, sat till 10am.........and all i seen was a fox. froze my damn toes off too....and the wind picked up pretty good. may go abck this afternoon.........hopefully something will be walking then.

i stopped at walmart for a few minutes and talked to a guy there. he went this am and shot a 6 pt.......got outta stand, went to it, and 25 yards from it...there was a 10 pt and another 6 pt so he says. haha......left his gun at his stand....so no shot on the 10 or other 6. whats funny though is he says the buck he shot came in after a doe......and said his neck was thick as hell, and they are still tearing up trees by his creek. he says rut is just coming in...........as far as i knew....it had came in when i had that deal with the 8 pt where i hunt, and that was 3 or 4 weeks ago. hmmmmmmmm:confused:

well...no luck this pm either fellas. this weekend sucked. i should have had that deer i saw yesterday......my stupid fault for falling asleep. i saw either 2 foxes or 2 coyotes this afternoon....too far away to tell which, and i left my bushnells in the truck.

whoever hunts this week....good luck. i think the next time im gonna get to be in the woods is gonna be thanksgiving. may do some good then.

Well, Its a good thing we call this hunting. Yep, being in the woods was better than work.

Sat in the stand all day again. Seen the same buck again and let him walk. Couple does came through but no clear shot.

Dog chasing rabbit through the woods an hour before sun down. Couldn't get a shot at him either........arghhh.

Was a perfect overcast cold and breezy day and yet I didn't hear too many guns going off. I don't think the rut is in swing yet. That young buck was by himself without too much concern for anything. He was prob 2 years old so I would of thought he might be looking for a hot doe.

Gonna sleep in tomorrow before work, body is exhausted. Hope to hit it some more in the mornings this week. I plan to hunt with the kids next weekend, if the weather is good for them.

Sure enjoy the daily hunt stories yall, hope to see you guys start putting up some pics. Good luck guys.

Hunted for 3 hours yesterday morning. Seen no deer. Hope the moon disappears soon.

No opportunities to deer hunt until Mon. evening with the kids.

Going pheasant hunting at a DNR property Monday and Tuesday morn. Always a lot of fun.
