Its wild the things people say to fix themselves on this forum lol. Spend 50k on a truck and have to DIY all this bullshit to fix things that should have been corrected before the truck was sold.

dude for 50k a bed shouldn't be shifted inches in the wrong direction lol. It makes the truck look terrible if someone install a topper.

    Oh look, another mod....

Once again, I agree. However, the OP doesn't have an issue with his bed, it's with his bumper. There's a huge difference. Try to stay on point.

Tons of examples of people with bed misalignment issues on this forum.

Take off the tacoma blindfold. It's okay to admit that these trucks have some problems that Toyota should be taking care off.

Nobody is expecting a bespoke Rolls Royce when they purchase a Toyota. They're expecting that a mass produced vehicle has everything aligned. Not a big ask considering the assumption that they're being built with robots and jigs, and in theory going through some sort of quality control.

You can bitch about it all you want, but the fact of the matter is that it's within tolerance according to Toyota, or it wouldn't have passed QA/QC. Now, maybe you can run that department better for them. You should apply. I'll wish you the best... But like I said prior, you're not getting what you want for $50K, whether you expect it or not. Know your place. You can't afford the type of perfection that you're seeking.

lol another member with the "I bought a tacoma, so nothing can ever be wrong with it" blindfolds.

If a bed a cab with drastic alignment issues passes QC, imagine what else they miss....

I've owned many different trucks in the 35-55k price range and none of them had body gap issues.

I agree, however if it is truly that bad and noticeable, should it not be noticed and brought up as an issue to be corrected BEFORE buying the dang thing?

I just think there should be some level of buyer responsibility. Last vehicle I bought, I spent like 2 hours inspecting and crawling under it on the dealer lot before I even asked for a test drive.

I'm not defending the dealership in any way, but this is not a 1 hour after purchase finding. This is 5,000 miles, 2 months maybe?, later. Why is it just now an issue if it is "so bad and noticeable"?

Mostly, if I can fix it in an hour by loosening a few bolts, then that's way better to me than going back to the dealer and entering a pissing contest, regardless of who should be responsible. Then again, maybe it's just because I don't enjoy hanging out in the dealership waiting lobby.

Tesla is the new gold standard for product manufacturing.. absolute shit! Why would any other manufacturer try to do better when so many idiots will buy a Tesla at twice or more the cost that is built like absolute garbage. $50,000 for a vehicle is near the bottom of the pile for vehicles... it's near entry level... Hyundai Pony of the eighties... I bought a Toyota... a generic pick up truck... if panel line up does quite match that is something I will live with or adjust... if that makes me a Toyota apologenist in your eyes, that's no big loss. At least I will find satisfaction in this life. And not be worried about perfection.

The only part about the dealer that would upset me, is that it seems many dealers correct this issue no questions asked and make it easy on the customer. But all dealers are not created equal.

Your comparing apples to oranges but I get it.

Yes, you bought a generic pick up, but you also paid full size price for a midsize truck.

People can argue this until they turn blue, but again, a 50k vehicle should not have body alignment issues.

I learned aligning my bed myself, you can't have everything perfect, it is a compromise somewhere so choose what you want to live with and live without. I picked getting the bed centered with the cab, and parallel with the cab, but now my bumper is off, similar to the OP, and I am not taking a dozen fasteners out to move it. If I recall, it is bolted to the hitch. But I can live with that, because you cannot see the right and left gaps at the same time.

I never paid full price... and I didn't pay $50,000. Or for that matter $40,000. And I bought new off the lot. I am completely happy with the price I paid and the product I received.

And this forum is constantly comparing apples to watermelons... so why try to change that!

First of all, nobody is talking about Tesla.

Second of all, $50k is a lot of money for a small truck. Happy to pay it because it's a good truck. But I will not pretend like panel gaps are acceptable.

Last- people like me who value attention to detail keep people like you alive.
