Yeah we have those smart co2 detectors (ring) and will send the fire dept out. Still a fear of mine. CO2 is nothing to mess with.

Funny, i posted the same thing a couple of weeks ago about remote start on our tacoma but i never got a reply. So 2020 has the option for it but not on 19. Why did they even list it on Connected Services for 19.

+1 for N2 Designs. I initially only had the remote start where I had to press the lock button three times for it to start. The engine would shut off after 15 minutes or whenever I opened the door (Push to Start). A year later I got the phone App. The phone app lets you unlock, lock, start, and shut off the vehicle. It also tracks your vehicle via GPS. There have been plenty of times where I needed to get something from my car, but forgot the keys in the house/building, and all I would have to do is use my cell phone to unlock and lock it. I also use the GPS function to tell whether or not the dealer is done with my car during servicing. Just followed the car as it moved from the parking lot to the bay and back to the parking lot. I'm sure you could even use it as a bait car, since you can shut off the engine via your cell phone and have the vehicles current location. Like someone else mentioned, first year is free, then $39 renewal fee.

My wife's 19 Highlander doesn't come with remote start, but it does come with the BS feature that shuts the engine off at a stop with the brake applied. If that's not hard on a starter, I don't know what is. I wish I could disable it out right, but it's like the ECT in my 17 Taco, gotta push the button each time it's started.

Many new cars have that same feature.
Honestly, i think it's better that starters are used more often. My aunt's VW starter had a flat spot. took it to get repaired. they ran the starter 50 times, no problems. it has worked great since.

I just feel it's a corporate tree hugger feature like the "spoiler" that comes on Tacos that MAY save a whopping 1 mpg on a good day, and why the transmission and shifting is engineered the way it is, all in an effort to bring a utility vehicle to an mpg point closer to a passenger car. Rant complete. :)

So no one can figure out a way to disable the truck from shutting off when the door is opened? Just an annoyance thing to have to do it - but I know there are other vehicles out there that don’t shut off.

$39 for the basic APP Starter. The extras (GPS) is $120.

It's only on PB Start. And it's built into the software of the truck (can't be disabled). Other PB Start vehicles may be similar?

Not a "problem" just an "annoyance".

3 inch level/lift, Toyo Open Country R/Ts, and MBRP exhaust.
They have them for all models. You do have to get a different kit for key start and push to start but install is the same.

I agree, but I’ve seen a lot of people say it’s a deal breaker.

Apparently, they’d rather get in to a freezing cold truck and wait for the windshield to defrost than have to push a button after getting into a nice warm truck with a clear windshield.

Either way, they have to put their finger on the button.

Thanks. With winter approaching I think that will be my next upgrade. doesn't get too terribly cold here but some mornings my teeth clatter while I'm waiting for the heat to arrive. Us Southerners are thin blooded and get cold faster than you snow bound northerners. It got down to 31 degrees last night and that's cold.

For the price plus the annual service fee, I'll pass on the module/app......

Isn't the 3.0 APP "ALEXA" capable?

Yes, but I am not thrilled with how it works. If you use your phone (Carplay or Android Auto) it completely disables the ability to use Alexa. It just feels very clunky, outdated, and not very useful... but maybe I am just biases towards how polished Carplay is.
