Well... technically the first year is $200 since you have to buy the module/app kit in addition to the standard remote start kit.

What about asking Alexa to start your truck?

Technically (not counting the price of purchase and install) the basic APP is $39 / yr. The advanced APP is $120 / yr. (You loose the advanced features after the first year).

I do not use Alexa, not a big fan of Amazon overall to be honest, so unable to to answer this.

lol well yeah.. it’s an add on.
i don’t care regardless i use it because i park in a lot for work and have to walk to my building.
i start the truck 15 minutes before i get out of work so when i have to make the 10 minute walk the truck is warm and not ice cold with any potential ice on the windshield.

Or break the window, reach in and open the door, then drive off. Whatever the reasoning, All Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura, and a handful of other manufactures do exactly this. It sucks, but it likely won't change any time soon.

A shifter lockout seems like it would have been a better solution.

No Sir. I'm talking about the GPS and other minor stuff. Cant remember all the details. Something about "history"? But GPS is the big one.

Yes, you can add the skill to you Echo or connect your Google home and have them perform tasks like locking/unlocking, remote starting and checking status. I haven't asked my home to start my truck yet, but have checked the fuel level and if it was locked.
With Google it is kind of clunky as you have to ask it something like "Ask Toyota if my truck is locked"

don’t know what your talking about but that’s all included in the $39. and install of this remote start and smart phone module cost me nothing as i installed it myself.

care to post a link because on the smartphone module app description it says nothing about $120. and other than the gps feature there is no other stuff... gps lock unlock start stop battery voltage is all the app does. there are other aux’s you can have like adding a second car but i don’t know what history you are talking about...
I am also talking about .12voltsolutions. just wanted make sure we were talking about the same product

I've been researching aftermarket RS systems. I've found out that DroneMobil is compatible with Apple. So just curious how the Alexa compatibility is working out. Thanks.

Well guess you are right. I know that I've seen the additional cost for the N2 and AS products advertised here in TW. I was sure that 12V was the same. Guess I'll have to give them another look. I've been looking at the main manufacturers for these products. I've done so much research that sometimes I get confused. I believe that 12V is basically a "Fortin" device. And 12V is probably an authorized distributor.

yeah maybe N2 is different price wise i think they may be a tad cheaper but basically the app interface seems to be exactly the same for the most part..

i don’t know all i know is that .12volt’s customer service is amazing and they have been nothing but helpful to me and everyone else who has ordered their kit for the 2nd gen tacoma which just came out last month

just skimmed n2’s website and even there they don’t advertise $120. so i have no clue where you even see that haha maybe you are reading a little more than ya should here because both company’s are free for the first year and $39 after that.
    n2 uses AT&T while .12volt uses T-mobile

Adding an alarm from Compustar with remote start feature..I can appreciate remote starts and cold weather with truck, warm window defrost & soft snow. I’m from NJ, now in Hawaii. With that said, why would you ever need a auto start in warmer climates? Does not make sense, open windows.. let hot air out and blast the air conditioner ..Just my humble opinion.

    I don’t know what you’re referring to.
After the 1st year was up, I paid $99 for a 3 year subscription, and I have all of the functions I ever had, including GPS (which I don’t really care about).

yeah i wouldn’t bother starting the truck when it’s hot out to cool it down. wouldn’t really be something i’d want to do as it cools down much quicker than if it’s -10 outside

no idea where you even see an option for $99 for 3 years as all they advertise is $39 for a year.

N2 and AS (both supported here) have hade some real good sales lately. And that is one of the reasons that I've only skimmed over 12V is because their cost is so much higher. I've been trying to drill down to the original manufacturers. So far, looks like Fortin, iDataLink and Omega are among the top manufacturers. Looks like you can save a little bit of money dealing with the manufacturer. But you loose some of that due to purchasing your own programing device. And you may loose some of the support from the retailers too? iDataLink is #1 currently on my list. But it's also the most expensive. And probably the most difficult to install.

When your 1st year expires, the app (CarLink) gives you the option of $39/yr or $99/3yrs.
