    I was told with my 18 that they would install a remote start that works with the factory remote push lock 3 times to start.

    Only 450 installed.

    Come to find out they were buying a well known remote start not a toyota remote start and installing them.

    Glad I just purchased mine and and installed it myself for 130 bucks last week lol.

    My local dealer is doing it 835.57 plus tax keep in mind that's Canadian dollars I am based out of Vancouver.

    My dealer informed to me to install an after market kit . So I bought this. All plug and play . Then I added the cell phone kit. Only takes about 30 minutes to install yourself. A lot cheaper than the dealer can install.

    You need to make sure your remote start unit has the option turned on for the cell phone unit/app to work. I found this out the hard way and bought a programmer and done it myself. Fortin Flashlink

    I purchased from 12volt solutions when they had the $130 shipped deal. I believe its $180 now. All plug and play. The only thing is all smart key remote starts shut the truck off when you open the door.

    I have been holding out till the OEM was out . Something about having a toyota branded one and not splicing really appealed to me . And yes i know i am paying the toyota tax

    I had my dealer install the "Toyota" remote start they talked about when I got my trunk. It was $550, when I picked it up from the install the paperwork said "install aftermarket remote start". It does work with my key fob, I would like to add the phone option, guess I will have to look to see the brand they used to see if it is available.

    Any update on the Toyota OEM remote start? I called my dealer yesterday and the guy I talked to hadn't heard anything about this and said only aftermarket remote starts are made for the Tacoma. Sounds like he's still in the dark. Does the Toyota OEM kit have an additional fob? Does it shut the truck off when you open the door like the aftermarket kits?

    Call your friendly local Canadian Toyota Dealer. Looks to run around $900 Canadian installed. No indication from online searching that it is available without installation.
    Some of the puffery is hilarious. I don't think Toyota Canada knows there are plug and play aftermarket units are available.
